Celebrating “International Self Care Day” with Mindfulness and Meditation

July 24th officially marked International Self Care Day, which aims to promote self-care as a vital foundation of overall health. With mindfulness and meditation becoming more popular around the world, there is also a new movement to bring these wellness practices into the workplace.

In fact, researchers from Harvard Medical School have found that meditation changes brain regions involving learning and working memory capacity. Mindfulness meditation can also enhance overall creativity, and offer increased insights into problem-solving while reducing cognitive rigidity.

Increased mindfulness also leads to significant improvements in work relationships and friendships, due to communication and expression of emotions.

Overall, it’s clear that mindfulness and meditation are great tools for enhancing employee performance and morale. And there’s no shortage of meditation apps geared towards enhancing workplace performance.

As we recently highlighted in a blog post about Professional Wellness Month, Makpar offers a wide-range of tools to help support employee wellness. These include access to popular health and wellness apps, as well as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) program that provides 24/7 access to licensed mental health professionals for telephone therapy sessions.

The company also offers an award-winning work culture that supports inclusivity, as well as personal and professional growth. At Makpar, we encourage all employees to take advantage of mindfulness meditation to support overall productivity and happiness.
