Minority-Owned Heritage Lays Foundation for Future Innovation Development for Government

May 12, 2021

This month marks Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, which recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans on the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

For Makpar, this is a very special holiday. As immigrants from Pakistan, Mushtaq and Seema Khan came to the United States with the dream of exploring new business opportunities in technology development, which led them to the founding of Makpar in 2008.

A family- and minority-owned business, Makpar has established itself as a key partner to the federal government by providing cutting-edge IT solutions in the areas of Cybersecurity; Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM); Agile Development, DevSecOps; and Cloud Migration Strategy.

This heritage of innovation continues today with efforts like Makpar’s new Innovation Lab, the company’s R&D lab that develops next-generation solutions in the areas of Data Strategy, Modernization and Cloud Migration.

By putting innovation development first, Makpar is taking inspiration from other Asian American technology leaders who are transforming our world. These leaders include Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, Sanjay Mehrotra, Co-Founder and CEO of SanDisk, and Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe. In addition, here’s a list of the 25 biggest technology companies founded by first- and second-generation immigrants.

Government agencies see the value in working with minority-owned businesses, as well as having Asian American employees. For example, NASA is celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage month with a number of events, as well as this video honoring its employees.

The Department of Defense also pays tribute to the contributions and dedicated service of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, past and present, in defense of the nation during May and throughout the year.

Makpar is proud to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, and looks forward to continuing its heritage of innovation development for government now, and well into the future.
